American husband and wife design team Charles (1907-78) & Ray (1916 – 88) Eames experimented with modern materials to create innovative and unique shapes and forms. The original lounge chair and footstool were created in 1956 as a gift for the Hollywood film director Billy Wilder and are now regarded as major icons of mid-20th century design.
Inspired by the original, Eames Lounge chair and Footstool with a walnut veneered moulded plywood shell, supported in a steel base with buttoned leather upholstery.
